Miss Nellie M. Watt, 20, who formerly I'ved at Cro.vdon, ,was at .Madstone, Sheriff's, Court lately awarded £l5O damages against Albert Norton Salzmann, aged 27, for breach <1 promise ©f marriage. She. said they became engaged fo.ur years ago and' were to have been married this summer. He was at one time a tailor's cutter atj Croydon, but Miss Watt does not know his present address. In one of his letters Mr Salzm.m wrote: "Mother Kav« it will be best to do the business jn the summer-t'me. as, if fine, we could have tb»> i-'.-cepiion in the garden. Mother tells nic you ar-i ranged for Mary avid Doris to be brides-• maids. Did y>u. you young fing:' f' ?a/t it was goo:l idea of yours.'a* ll need not give presents to my sisters. [ but mother said. On January '27 last he sent a letter suggesting tliev should part, and sayng: "'While we are alone in the front room, etc., we get on well together, but ; n public wo always ;eem to grate, somehow."
