An Army aeroplane dived a distance of (SOft at Gosport (.011 the west side of Portsmouth Harbor). Lieutenant Hordoru was killed and a mechanic was terribly injured. Several officers who were playing football had narrow escapes from being injured.

BALLOON ACCIDENT IN FRANCE. PARTS, July 20. The Aerial Grand, Prix was about to start when a gust of wind swept a balloon against a tree. The occupants of the basket fell 50ft on to a passing cart. M. Duval, one of the aeronauts, was severely injured on the skull, while M. P/lanc'het, a former winner of. the Gordon Bennett Cup, was seriously hurt.

EIRIVEN ACROSS CHANNEL. Received July 21, 0.5 a.m. LONDON, July 20. Three balloons which were competing in the French Aero Club's Grand Prix were driven across the Channel by a gale and landed 011 the west coast of Wales fearing that they would fall into the Irish Sea.
