MATAURA DROWNING FATALITY.

♦ MR CARROLL'S BODY FOUND. The body of Mr John C. Carroll, who was drowned in the river at Mataura oil May 23, was found yesterday washed up oil' a beach opposite "Maiaruia" by ■Messrs Thomas Carroll (brother ol the deceased) and John Christie (Tutiirau). It will bo remembered that the doceased was drowned while endeavoring to cross the Mataura River in a 11a K bottomed boat above tho weil. The body was removed to the deceased's late residence, Kana Street, iMatauni; and the funeral will take place at 2.30 o'clock to-morrow afternoon. The Mataura. Brass Band will head tho cortegt. and several members of tho Gore Brass Ban dwill also pay a tribute to the memory of the deceased.
