"A CRYINC SCANDAL." BT BLECTBIO TELEGRAPH COPYRIGHT. PER UNITED PRESS. ASSOCIATION LONDON, July 3. The 'Christian World' deals with the New Hebrides in an article entitled "A Crying Scandal." After alleging that women and children are openly recruited and kidnapped for immoral purposes, and that- the administration of justice is a fa-rce, the article says that the Government fe in possession of papers wliieli it does-not' dare to publish- bethe bulk- of the maladministration is French: rather than English, therefore it is afraid of arousing French public opinion against England. The paper is hopeful that the present conference will provide a remedy; •if not, the papers must be published and the consequences faced. Molton), in reply to a question said, that he understood that deposits' of oil shale were recently found on certain islands of the New Hebrides, but no reports had been received respecting the boring test or the extent of the field.
