ANGLOPHOBIA.

The House of .Representatives rejected a* vote to celebrate the centenary of the Treaty of Ghent. There was a mild display of Anglophobia, one member saying, "'Perfidious. Albion' is ready to make war upon us by secret and treacherous conspiracy." Of this treaty (signed' on December 24, 1814) the "Historians' His-tory of the World" says: "Before IRJ.4 was out Britain and . tho United States had signed the Peace a treaty whoso main peculiarity, was that it made no mention of any of the disputed points' which had been used 1 as the American casus belli in 1812. Thus an unsatisfactory peace ended an unsatisfactory war."
