STILL WORKS HARD AT 142.

The. Ossetes, one of the numerous Cdusasian tribes who inhabit the Terek territory in South Kussia, are noted for their longevity. The other clay there died in the village of Anl 'Misui-'V woman 139 years of age. Her name was Naikuta Karglnova arid .she was famous for her keen eyesight, her jet black hair and 1 her fine net of tpeth which she preserved to the end. She died at her spinning wheel. But even her great age is exceeded by that of.Kawdyii Yeloyeff, an Ossete patriarch of 142,/ who .still 'mows his patch, of grass land and gathers firewood in the forest. He has only been sick once in his life ,as a child, when he had the smallpox. Yeloyeff has been four times married, and has four sons; the youngest is >a boy of 82. He is a believer in hard work and solid' food -' drink of any kind he rarely touches. ■Tile ages of these two ancients ore attested by the church records of the village.
