Nessio Carter, aged 20, a girl who was released from reformative treatment for theft after .serving only ])art of her sentence, earne. before court again on charges «f false pretences. The evidence showed that she had h:id many adventures during the past five weeks, duping iboardinghouse-keeper:; and shopkeepers, and posing as the niece of several well-known residents. The magistrate questioned the method adopted by the Prison Board of releasing the girl and sentenced her to three months' imprisonment and one year's reformative treatment.
