/• THE UNIFORM FUND. ' A large number of citizens and representatives from other institutions held a meeting in Latham's Rooms on Wednesday evening to discuss ways and means of procuring uniforms for the Gore Pipe Band. „JHis Worship the Mayor (Mr D. MeDougall) was voted to the chair. He mentioned the fact that all the players were losal-born youths, and it behoved the public to support them as they have always been 'ready and give their assistance to any cause or institution that was for the good and welfare of the town, but were considerably hampered for want of uniforms. After a general discussion ii was decided to hold a carnival some time in May next. Messrs Francis and Drisooll were appointed joint secretaries with a strong executives/It! is proposed to hold a carnival in the Town Hall, and it was also resolved to call a meeting of ladies willing to assist shortly.
