WAIRIO RACES. The ;r::iual race meeting at Wairio was ho.-l yesterday in perfect racing weather. There was a very large attendance and the totalisator investments were a record. Following are the results:— Maiden Plate, one mile.—2 Cannonade, 8.11, 1; 1 Neuroma, 8.1, 2; 5 Tommy, 9.0, 3. Also ran: 6 Mo ; ;r:nere 8.13, 4 Prairie Fire 9.1, 7 Silver King 8.13, 3 Speybank 8.13. Cannonade easily held his own and won by four lengths from Neuroma, with Tommy eight lengths away third. Mossmcre was fourth and Prairie Fire fifth. Time, lmin 49sec. Nightcaps Class Trot, one mile and a-half.—2 Stanley's Child, Usee. 1; 1 Roll Up, 20sec, 2; 3 Minim, 20scc, 3. Wairio Cup.—One mile and a-quarter. —3 Hesione, 8.4, 1; 5 Miss Kellerman, 6.12, 2; 2 Mosgiel, 8.6, 3. Also ran: 1 Parable 7.13, 6 Peerless 7.6* 4 Miss Signal 6.12. From a good start M'es Signal made the running attended by Hesione and Peerless; then came Mosgiel, with Parable bringing up the rear. Pe»rless dropped out three furlongs from home and Hesione went in pursuit of Miss Kellerman, while Parable moved up. Miss Kellerman was first into the long straight, but Hesione closed on her at the distance and won by a length and a-half. Miss Kellerman beat Mosgiel by a length for second place, with Parable close up fourth, just in front of Miss Signal. Time, 2min 13 4-ssee. Farmers' Plate, six furlongs.—l Giralda, 9.0, 1; 3 Driftwood, 8.0, 2; 2 Champagne. 9.2, 3. In the run home Driftwood challenged Giralda, the latter winning by a short head in a good finish, with Champagne two lengths away third. Time, lmin 19sec. Aparima Hark Steeplechase, about two miles.—s Corso, 10.11, 1; 9 Black Sea, 10.10, 2; 2 Heatherlea, 1013, 3. Corso was first into the straight and won nicely by three lengths from Blaek Sea, who beat Heatherlea by a short half-length for second plaee; Northern was fourth. Skyrocket fifth and Caseshot sixth. Also started: 5 Canrosa 9.0, 3 Golden Webb 9.0, 6 Gimdagai 9.0, 10 Maraekoa 8.13, 9 Bridgeport 8.8, 7 Connie Soult 8.8. 12 M*s Ray 8.8, 8 Raydale 8.8, 11 Red Queen B.B'. A neat finish resulted: in Pretty Jane beating Aerogram by a head, with Marginal half a length away ; then came Golden Webb and Maraekoa. Time, 1 min ssec. Wrey's Bush Welter, seven furlongs. —2 Aphaea. 7.10, 1; 5 Rongahere, 7.7, 2, 6 Lord Frederick, 7.7, 3. Also ran: 3 Goldsail 7.10, 7 Wairaki 8.0, 1 King Torrent 7.10, 4 Martian Maid 7.9. Won by throe lengths from Rongahere, while Lord Frederick was third a length and a-half further away; King Torrent was fourth. Time, lmin 30 l-ssec.
