CHRISTCHURCN MARKETS. | PBE UNITKP PRESS ASSOCIATION. OHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 17. Hie local grain market has esumed the quiet tone that has characterised it for some months past. There appears ' to be no demand for wheat beyond the usual hand-to-mouth business with the smaller millers. There is no better business doing in oats, and there is only a limited demand for oat sheaf chaff. The potato market has again become ■weaker, and 32s 6d and 35s are the outside prices, though some merchants say that from 30s to 32s 6d at country stations is all "ETiat they can give. Besides the shipments from South and North, markets are now being supplied with the new season's local crop, and hare ascertained that the new potatoes are now arriving at Ohristchurch. and selling at about 3d per lb wholesale.
