ESSAD'S CAPTURED CARRIAGE.
When the Servians were in Albania many personal effects belonging to Essad Pasha, the defender of Scutari, were confiscated. Among them was his private carriage, which the Servian com-mander-in-chief sent as a present to tlie Bishop of Dura/.zo. Some inonths afterwards. when Essad firrived at Durazzo, tlio bishop called on him and related how he bad received the carriage, which, ho addoci, would bo glad to return to Mm.
Essad. replied thai as carriages ace not made merely to be possessed but to be used, ho would make a present to the bishop of two lioisos and their harness. Tlio next day two fine horses, elegantly harnessed, were sent to the bishop's residence.
