At yesterday's meeting of the Bluff Harbor Board it was stated that the ordinary revenue foi\ March allowed an inorea.se of £368 over the corresponding month ot' 1912 and £715 for the three months ended March 31. From his apiary near Lakeside, Mr K. N. Gid ley has obtained during the past season about five tons' of honey (fctat.es the 'Christehurch Frees')- One particularly large and vigorous colony gathered no less than 4171b of honey in the season. "I want to see every man who drives a motor-car licensed. . . . And anvone drunk while driving a car should have his licenfrj- cancelled right away." These were sentiments expressed by Mr T. M. Wilfort, M.P., at a meeting of motorists in Wellington. At the meeting of the Health Committee of the Sydney City Council last week Aid. Walker moved for the abolition of the patrolmen who were last year appointed by Aid. Clarke, then Lord Mayor. The mover explained that while at the outset these officials did excellent work, lately they were not taken much notice of. The men were coating the city £IOOO a year, and were only do in si? work that should bo done by the police. Aid. Lawrence seconded the motion. The police were, in his opinion, rcc.ro competent to do the work far the simple reason that the people took more notice of them. Aid. Barlow contended that tho city was much cleaned than it was before the appointment of these men. ,Ald. Griffin considered that the men had outlived their usefulness. All he had 'ever seen them do was walking about the streets twivKi g their sticks and looking very important. Aid. Cox added that he had heard of one of the patrolmen being asleep when he was to be on duty.
