At the end' of December, Pirou, reputedly a wealthy man, and Mayor of Genetilly, was arrested on a charge ci' attempting to murder Madam© Chnbru.Xj the widow of a banker, and her sister. The evidence was circumstantial. It was admitted by Piroa that ho had had loan negotiations with the banker prior to 4 be latrer's death; otherwise the case was mysterious.

Pirou has now been sentenced to I' 3 years' imprisonment on a charge cf tempted murder.
