Rev. D, Waddell, of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Dunedin, was entertained by the members of the Dunedin Presbytery last evening prior to bis departure on a tour of America and Canada. Rev. W. Gray-Dixon presided and Rev. Dr Watt voiced the feelings of the members of the Presbytery in their sincere regard for Dr W&ddell, a man whom, he said, God had endowed with attractive gifts. The speaker referred to preaching ability of Dr Waddell, and stated that his personality had exercised a wonderful influence on some of their best young men. When it was remembered that eight young men of St. Andrews Church had joined the ministry, it spoke volumes for I)r Waddell's preaching and personality. In concluding an admirable address Dr Watt, on behalf of the members of tho Presbytery, presented Dr Waddell with a filled sovereign-case, stating that it was accompanied and charged with their best wishes for his welfare and safe return. They were willing to part with him only in the hope that be would come back to them renewed in health and able to carry on the work of God in the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand for many years to come. Dr Waddell, in graceful language, thanked the donors for their gift. There had (he said) been many changes in the Presbytery since he first joined it 34 years ago, and few were members now who were members then. Ho hoped to come back to Dunedin refreshed both mentally and physically. REGENT CIGARETTES are pure and cool. Smoke the:a and share in the Great Free Gift Scheme.
