DRAUGHTS.
:,iOW CHAMPIONSHIP, Tho honor of holding the New Zealand and Australasian draughts championships has this year been allotted to Gore, and the committee of the local club, under whose direction the tournament will be conducted, has spared no efforts to ensure the success of the meeting. It js expected that the majority of the players will arrive at Gore to-ilay, among whom will be Messrs 1). Hilliker (champion). Brodie and Lu.as (ox-champions) and Galderwood (Huntly, runner-up at the last championship meeting). Mr Jas. Gardiner, of Gore, who has been twice holder of the coveted title, will also compete, and is reported to be. playing up to his best form. For players who are not quite up to championship standard, a handicap. tourney has been arranged, and altogether a most successful tournament is anticipated. Play is timed to start ui-morrow nfc two o'clock in Holland's buildings which have been specially prepared lor the occasion. A meeting will be held at one o'clock to make final arrangements. Mr G. J. Anderson, M.P., has kindly consented to open tlie tournament.
