He was shipped to Nelson, leaving Charlton on Monday, arriving at Nelson on Saturday, and the following Monday took first prize in a class of 12 at the Golden Bay Show. C; LADBROOK'S ROMNEY MARSH STUD FLOCK. The flock was founded with 20 ewes from Mr Alex. Keir, of Charlton, in 1903. Mr Keir founded his flock about the year 1882 by purchasing ewes from J. and A. D. Mcllraith, Balrazie, Rakaia, Canterbury, who founded their flock by purchasing 20 ewes from Mr R. N. Bealey, Hororata. Mr Bealey's Btud was part of the famous Haldon stud flock which was founded from imported sheep by Samuel Bealey and his brother, John Bealey, from flocks of Messrs Ohithenden and Ridgen about the year 1867. These flocks nave all been consistent prizetakers in the showring ever since establishment. The greatest care and judgment has been exercised in mating and breeding and nothing, but the choicest rams have been useoT The present Stud has been added to by purchasing 47 ewes descended from Mr A. W. Rodger's stud flock in 1906. In 1908, 20 ewes and 15 ewe lambs were purchased from F. A. Price, N.Z. F. 8., South Island F.B. 119. In 1910 two ewes were purchased at the Haldon clearing sale, Flock 9y also 10 2-tooth ewes at the cleariiutad]# of J. B. Reid, Elderslie. RapTffrom the following breeders have been used in the flock:—G. C. Tothill, Bealey Bro*., E. Short, John Miller, J. B. Reid and A. and J. Gray. The prize-list of the flock for the past four years numbers 170 prizes, as follows:—67 firsts, 55 seconds, 31 thirds, 7 champions, 4 reserves. 6 most points; also Romney Marsh Breeders' Association Shield for best ram at Dunedin Show in 1911.
