The death sentences .were, however, com-) muted and the remainder only received j short terms which the King suspended, j In March Reuter's Bangkok agent] reported that a revolutionary conspiracy had been unearthed at Bangkok. Army and Navy officers were implicated, and many arrests were made. Siam, is a kingdom embracing part of thej Indo-Chinese and part of the Malay j Peninsula. The standing Army num- . •bers about 25,000, arid the Navy consists of one protected cruiser (30001. tons) and some 20 other vessels of 100 tons and more.
