Veran, a wine merchant, after losing a case before the Marseilles Tribunal exclaimed "I am ruined!" and fatally shot with a revolver a lawyer engaged by the other side. Attendants sprang on Veran, who I'vrenched himself free and shot another rival lawyer and then attempted suicide. ! Litigants and lawyers fled amid panic.
