t >.ii L'NU'tEl' ASSOCIATION. Received January 26, 8 a.m. LONDON, Jan. 25. Three-fourths of the carters employed by the Gre.it Northern Railway Company in London have struck owing to the dismissal of a comrade for refusing to do porters' work.

VAUDEVILLE ARTISTS' UNION. Received January 26, 9.20 a.m. SYDNEY, Jan. 26. The vaudeville artists have formed a union. BRISBANE TRAM STRIKE. SERIOUS DEVELOPMENTS. Received January 26, 9.20 a.m. BRISBANE, Jan. 26. The tram strike is assuming a more serious phase and threatens to spread. A quantity of explosives was found on the line at Bulimba and a large stone was found jammed in the points at another place. The Commissioner of Police has received threatening letters from sympathisers with the strikers. The wharf laborers ceased work temporarily and paraded the streets. They also carried a resolution that the waterside workers are prepared to assist in a general strike if necessary to fore© the Tramway Company to recognise the men's demands.

A deputation from the Parliamentary Labor Party waited on the Home Secretary and the Minister of Railways and asked them to enforce the section of the Tramways Act providing for an efficient service.

The Ministers stated that they were officially unaware of the trouble, but promised to consider if action were possible.

A STRIKE ENDED. Received Januarv 26, 9.20 a.m. ADELAIDE, Jan. 26. The protracted builders' and laborers' strike has ended, the employers conceding the demand for 10s per day.
