THE SHIPPING AGREEMENT. DUNEDIN, Jan. 25. In relation to the shipping agreement it is explained locally that the seamen will work only eight hours while a vessel is in port.

If the agreement refers to eight-hour shifts at sea several local traders will have to employ additional hands and, in some cases, will have to provide extra forecastle accommodation.

It is understood that the agreement takes effect for two years from the date of signing.
