SOUTHLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Southland Amateur Championship meeting took place at ltiverton yesterday. There was only a fair attendance, the gate money amounting to £lls. No records were broken as the track was rough and not conducive to fast time. Three well known Southland sprinters did not put an appearance, although they entered, and this robbed some of the events of interest.

The 75yds handicap was won by M. Cowen (Otago University) from scratch in 7 4-ssec, with N. Saunders second and G. Giller third.

The half-mile flat championship was won by T. It. Robertson (ltiverton) in 2min 7 3-ssec. C. E. Robertson was second and J. Harward third.

Tlu> 100 yds championship was won by G. P. Keddell in 10 2-osec, with M. Cowen second and It. A. Keddell third.

The broad jump was secured by T. It. Robertson with 20ft jump. The pole vault championship was carried off by G. Giller with 9ft 3-Jin. The 120 yds hurdles was annexed by G. P.
