CALD HEADS FOR THE STAGE.

It was established 011 October 30 that among clean, old English gentlemen ■with grey beards or bald heads there is no general desire to go on the stage. Mr Charles Cochran, who is preparing to produce the wordless drama "The Miracle," by Professor Reinhardt, author of "Sumunin," at Olympia, advertised for 100 clean patriarchs with shiny bad pates to meet him at the Clavier Hall, Prince's street, Hanover Square, with a view to embarking upon a dramatic career with a comemncing salary of 30s a week. His appeal met with but a slight response. Outside the Clavier Hall there assembled in the driving rain a large crowd of reporters, photographers, and curious youthful onlookers of both sexes but surprisingly few stage-smitten, clean, old gentlemen of impressively patriarchial appearance. There was not la really fine, long, grey beard nor a | single perfectly shiny, hairless head among them.
