The president predicted the occurrence of trade disputes in the immediate future and declared that the builders would be forced to look further afield for artisans, the local men taking to unskilled work.

RAILWAYMEN'S CONFERENCE

The council of the railway companies will meet on Friday to consider the Government's communication with relation to the House of Commons invitation inviting the companies to a conference with the railwaymen.

TAXICAB DRIVERS' STRIKE

Out of 2310 taxicab drivers 2100 have struck as a protest against the tax on petrol. DRIVERS AND NON-UNIONISTS. PER UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION. CISBORNE, Nov. 29. At a meeting of the Gisborne Drivers' Union a motion was carried unanimously instructing the delegates to the Trades Councils Conference to recommend the setting up of a committee to institute a systematic boycott of firms employing non-unionists in the carrying on of their business.
