Mr Champ Clark (the Democratic leader), speaking at Fremont (Nebraska) declared that nine-tenths of the United States was in favor of the annexation of Canada. He concluded: "I don't care who "hears me say it." Mr Clark has challenged President Taft to stand as Presidential candidate the sole question of annexation, and said he would guarantee that he would defeaUHr Taft.
