10s A WEEK MINISTERS.
The statement is made that there are numbers of poorly-paid Nonconformist ministers in Wales. Many have to exist and bring up their families on 15s a week, others on ,12s, some even on 10s a week or less. The Welsh Congregational Union has decided boldly to face the situation, and a committee of the union has undertaken to raise within the next five years a sum of £50,000, and to supplement the income to be derived from this fund by annual collections of not less than £ISOO. It is calculated that an annual income of at least £3OOO will be required to secure a minimum salary of £BO a year to each accredited minister. In the first year it is hoped to collect from £IO,OOO to £15,000 in personal subscriptions from the many wealthy laymen of the denomination and from the ministers of the larger churches. - I
