GORE STOCK SALE. The fortnightly stock sale which took place at the Gore yards yesterday was largely attended. The entry was about equal to those of former sales for some weeks past, but if anything the quality all round was better and prices showed an upward tendency. Of course ewes and lambs in the natural orderW things are in much better condition than a fortnight ago and the same may be said of store stock, hence the tendency to improve values. Feed is not too plentiful yet, however, and the drying wind of Monday checked the prospective growth. Fat sheep realised good prices. A small pen of very fine fat ewe hoggets brought the handsome price of 235; fat wethers, 22s 6d, 20s 9d, 20s 2d and 20s; and fat ewes, 16s 2d and 17s Id. A few odd lines continue to be picked up, the outside price being 3s 7d at country stations. The offerings are limited, and the demand is not active. Oats are still scarce, and the demand for .chaff is rather easier, as more is offering. It is still worth more for consumption in the country than can be paid for shipment. Potatoes have eased in price, as lower quotations for shipment are being made from the South. There is a faijr quantity on offer; but, owing to tide lateness of the season, buyers will operate only to fill orders. Potatoes are now quoted at 45s to 50s at country stations.
