AN AERIAL RACE.

Received November 1, 8.5 a.m. NEW YORK, Oct. 31. in the course of his cross-country aerial journey from San Francisco to New York the aviator Fowler was caught in a gale at Tucson (Arizona) and crashed into a grandstand in the University athletic field, where there were hundreds of spectators. A panic occurred, numbers being hurt, but not seriously. The machine was partially wrecked, but Fowler was uninjured. While attempting to cross the Sierras Fowler fell through his rudder failing to work. The aeroplane was wrecked, but Mr Fowler escaped with a fewbruises. The aviator announced his intention to resume the journey with a I new machine.
