A panic occurred, numbers being hurt, but not seriously. The machine was partially wrecked, but Fowler was uninjured. While attempting to cross the Sierras Fowler fell through his rudder failing to work. The aeroplane was wrecked, but Mr Fowler escaped with a fewbruises. The aviator announced his intention to resume the journey with a I new machine.
