BRITISH EMIGRANTS.
* LABOR AND AUSTRALIA. %Y MiECTKIO TELEGRAPH.— COPYRIGHT. PER UNITED PEEBB ASSOCIATION. Received November 1, 10.10 a.m. LONDON, October 31. Hon. W. L. Baillien (Victorian Minister for Public Works) in a letter to the 'Times' says it is significant that the Federal Labor Government spent more than any previous Government in advertising the Commonwealth for British emigrants. The trade unions seemed to recognise that they were no longer justified in their opposition to a vigorous emigration policy. If Australia made assisted emigration general the counrty would soon equal Canada.
