At Otatara yesterday morning (says the 'News') an eight-roomed, house, owned by the, Otatara Land Proprietary and occupied by Mr William Cussen, was completely gutted by fire. The occupants had barely time to seize their clothing and make their exit. The origin of the fire is a mystery, but it is supposed to have originated from a wood fire in the kitchen. The building, which was valued at £450, was insured for £320 in the Mutual Life and Citizens' Insurance Company, ai.d tho furniture for £4O in the Guardrm Insurance Company.
