CRICKET.
MATAURA DEFEATS EDENDALK. A friendly cricket match was played between the Mataura and Edendale dubs on the ground of the former yesterday afternoon. The weather was ideal and the wicket was fast. Edendale batted first and compiled 72 runs. Herbert (13) and Bogue (2">) being the principal scorers. Mataura responded with 98, Watkins (who retired after making 37). Crombie (28) and Donne (13) being the most successful butsnien. The scores follow :
