D 1 STRICT TO URNAM EN T. A meeting of delegates from the various clubs in the Eastern District svas held at Gore yesterday afternoon to make arrangements for the forthcoming bowling tournament to lie held at Gore and Mataura at Easter, commencing on Good Friday. There were present: Messrs Rankin and Crosbie (Wvndham), Macandrew, Grierson and Thorn (Mataura), Craig and Dr Matthews (Gore), and Robson, Graham and Brass (Hokonui). It was resolved: "That two rink matches be held, to be called the Gore and Hokonui Matches, the Gore, Hokonui and Mataura greens to be at the disposal of the committee. The winners of the first round shall remain in the Gore match and the losers go into and form the Hokonui match. The succeeding winners will play off until the green winner of each section is found." On the Monday (ladies' day) the sectional winners will play off and then the finals will take place. The prizes will be £8 and £4 for the Gore Match and for the Hokonui Match £6 and £4. The doubles matches will be played on Easter Saturday on the same principle as the rink matches. These will be called the Mataura and Wyndham Matches, and the prizes will be £5 and £3 and £3 and £2 respectively. Play will commence each day at 8.30 a.m. and green superintendents have been appointed for each green. These gentlemen will also form an Appeal Committee, the headquarters of the committee during the tournament being Latham's rooms. The following Executive Committee for the conduct of the turnament was elected: —President, Mr W. Robson (Hokonui); vice-presidents, Messrs Grierson (Mataura), Ross (Wyndliam) and Smith (Gore); secretary and treasurer, Mr J. S. Brass; committee, Messrs Graham (Hokonui), Crosbie and Irving (Wyndham), Macandrew and Sherwood (Mataura), Dr Matthews and Mr Craig (Gore). Further particulars will be announced later.
