Following is Rev. D. C. Bates' summary and weather forecast: —Rain has spTead over the North Island, but the weather has improved in the South. The barometer is lower in the North, - -and though still high in the South, has • shown a slight fall, which has weakened the gradients. Present indications jure for a brief spell of fair weather, !' heavy showers following in many parts ■And the weather clearing up afterwards ; for a day or two. The wind will probably freshen again from the southward arid after a temporary fall the barometer will probably rise everywhere.
