TAPANU! RACES. SECOND DAY. For the second day of the Tapanui j aces yesterday there was hue weather and a good attendance. Two bookmakers plied their calling. The sum of £IBO6 was put through the totalisator, as against £1548 for the second day last year, making a total for the two days of £3175, compared with £2923 for the 1910 meeting. The fields were fair, and in some cases the public were wrong in their judgment, as some good dividends were paid. One of the limit horses (Lagoon) wont out in a sulky, and after passing the stand turned round, with the result that Diving Bell collided with him and capsized. J.C. also narrowly escaped being brought down. The rider of Diving Bell (W. Jones) received a bad shaking. The race was won by Arbitress, with J.C. second and The Dairymaid third, but the officials met and decided that it would have to be run over again through Lagoon being driven.
