CHILDREN AT PLAY.

SUNDAY SCHOOL PICNICS. The picnics arranged for by the onicials of the Sunday schools under lite auspices of the various churches yesterday were somewhat marred by the weather. The early part of the day uas showery and boisterous and the original arrangements had in alniosi every case to be altered. The afternoon, however, turned out line, if somewhat cold, and the children spent an enjoyable time. GORE PRESBYTERIAN. The Gore Presbyterian Sunday School authorities had arranged to hold the picnic in the East Gore Domain, but owing to the state of the weather the gathering was held on tho church grounds. Mr AW Gilchrist (superintendent) was ably assisted by Messrs W. Boyne, T. Shaw, A. Aitken, J. Look, W. Calder, and others in arranging the sports programme, which was carried out in Rock street. The Misses Laurie, Ford, Boyne, and Calder and Mesdames Stewart and Blaikie, with others, rendered good service in the commissariat department. Refreshments dear to the hearts of the little ones were in abundance and a pleasant gathering terminated shortly after five o'clock. HOLY TRINITY. The Holy Trinity Sunday School picnic was held in the Dominion Hall, which was kindly lent by the proprietors for the occasion. Games of various kinds and races took place during the afternoon on River street, and refreshments under the direction of Mrs Wingfield and a number of ladies were dispensed. The sports were conducted under the supervision of Messrs Shave, Newman, Murray, Perks and others. GORE METHODIST. The Gore Methodist Sunday School picnic was held in the Gore Domain between Ardwick and Fairfield streets. Under the original arrangements the gathering was to have taken place in the East Gore Domain. The various games and races incidental to such gatherings were indulged in under the supervision of Rev. Greenslade, Messrs E. C. Smith, L. Shepherd, S. Allott and others, and the Mesdames Greenslade, Palmer, Beattie, Clayton t Miss Shepherd and others attended to the refreshments.
