SAL§ AT WYNDHAM. Messrs Henderson and Company report on the sale held at Wyndham on Thursday last: —The attendance of buyers was small, and, excepting for cows fwhich were right at profit, the bidding !Waa somewhat quiet. At the present time feed appears to be none too plentiful, and this fact doubtless accounted for the quiet demand experienced. About 70 cows were brought under the hammer, and 58 of these were sold at prices ranging from £7 to £9 15s for those showing to immediate profit, and from £5 to £6 J.Qs for later calnfhi. Heifers made from £5 2s 6d to £6 7s 6d for best and from £4 6s to £4 15s for others. We sold 37 head at these rates. SALE OF A HORSE. Mr Robert Fortune, of Otama, has purchased from Mr Richard Irvine, of the young filly Lady Stewart. The pnoe given was a handsome one. GRAIN AND PRODUCE REPORT. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Dunedin, re port as follows: We held our usual weekly auction sale at our stores on Monday, when we offered a representative catalogue. There was a larger attendance of buyers than usual, and we cleared the bulk of our catalogues as under: — Oats.—There is no change to report fn; this market. Offerings from the feountry are very light and no lines of tany size are changing hands. Seed lines, •2s to 2s 3d; milling, Is IOJd to Is lid; good to best feed, Is 9£d to Is' lOJd; inferior and medium, Is Gd to Is B£d per bushel. Wheat.—The market remains the same as last week. Millers are not optrating • and practically no business is passing. Prime Northern velvet is inquired for at quotations, but there is very little offering. Other descriptions ■of mining lines are unchanged and are hard to quit. Fowl feed is selling more xeadily. Prime velvet, 3s lOd to 4s; Smilling and velvet ear, 3s 7d to 3s 8d; Jwhole fowl feed, 3s to 3s 4d; broken fend damaged, 2s 6d to 2s Od per bushel -<bags extra). Potatoes.—Supplies coming to lifnd are just about equal to requirements, and quotations are the same. Inferiosorts are very hard to quit. Best table sorts, -£7 15s to £8; medium to good, £7 to £7 10s; seed lines, £5 10s to £6 10s; inferior, £4 to £5 5s per ton 'bags in). Chaff.—For all prime oaten chafr -coming to hand there is a good inquiiy and'prices have advanced fully 3s fid per ton. Medium quality, on the i.ihir ohand, although a little more saleable, ffhows no change. Prime oaten sheaf, Hi 4; heavy oaten sheaf, £3 15s to £3 l.'s JBd; medium to good, £3 to £3 10s; 'nferior, £2 10s to £3 per ton. (bags extra). GORE STOCK SALE. At the fortnightly Gore stock sale, held yesterday, there was a large attendance of district farmers and buyers. The entry comprised some 3000 sheep of all classes and about. 100 head of cattle. The larger proportion of the sheep forward were ewes of all ages, and prices were in some cases a little Tietter than at last sale, one pen of very nice two-tooth ewes bringing 21s 3d. Several lots were passed, the owners' reserves not being reached. There were not many hoggets forward, and those offered realised prices slightly below last sale, while fat wethers sold at about the same rate as at the preceding sale. The following prices were realised: Southland Farmers' Co-operative Association: 124 8-tooth ewes, in lamb, 14s 2d; 60 mixed hoggets, 12s; 60 2-, 4- and 6-tooth ewes, in lamb, 16s; 35 3-, 4r- and 6-tooth merino ewes, in lamb, 13s and lis sd; 14 f.m. ewes, in lamb, ills' 6d; 90 2-tooth ewes, in lamb, 21s Jld (a very nice line, bringing the top fwice of the day). In addition the firm sold 135 2- and 4-tooth ewes, in lamb, «t £1; and 86 full-mouth ewes, in lamb, at 16s. Cattle: Two fat cows at £7 7s 6d; dairy cows at £9 12s 6d, £9 ss, £8 17s 6d, £8 15s, £8 ss, £B, £7 10s, £7 7s 6d, £7 2s 6d, £7, £6 15s, £6 12s 6d, £6 10s, £6 ss. £6 2s 6d, £6, £5 15s, and £3 10s. National Mortgage and) Agency Company, Ltd.: 50 fat wethers, 18s and 18s 4d; 2 small pens fat ewes, lis 6d and 18s 3d; 80 6-tooth ewes, in lamb, 16s 2d; 50 2-tooth ewes, in lamb, 20s ~ 7 d. Cattle: 4 yearling heifers at £2 4s, 6 do. at £2 16s, 3-year bullock at £5 Ib, and dairy cows at £3 Bs, £5 10s, £6, £6 15s and £4 15s, and a heifer at £5 2s 6d. Wright, Stephenson and Co.: 27 fat 7ethers, 17s; 220 mixed hoggets, lis id; 50 2-tooth wethers, 12s; 200 2- and 4-tooth ewes, in lamb, 18s 7d; 60 fullmouth ewes, in lamb, 8s 3d; and 100 2-tooth ewes, in lamb, 16s Bd. Cattle: 1 fat heifer £7 10s, 1 fat steer £9 6s, 3 fat bullocks £9 3s 6d. store steer £5 2s 6d, cows £5 los and £2. and 1 bull £3 13s. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd.: 40 6- and 8"tooth ewes, in lamb, los sd; 100 do., 19s Id. This firm also passed a very nice line of 2-tooth ewes at 20s 2d and 140 2- and 4-tooth ewes at 20s 6d, the prices being below the vendors' reserve. Cattle: Fat cow at £7 10s, bull at £3 4s, and dairy cows at £3 4s, £3 lis, i£4 4s, £4 17s 6d and £3. and two heiffcrs at £3 12s 6d, £3 and £2 10s; 11 steers at £4 ss. Dalgety and Co. offered a very nice line of 160 6- and 8-tooth ewes in lamb, but could not reach the owners' reserve .nd they were passed in at 19s 3d. Cattle: 18 calves at £2 6s. Henderson and Co. sold 50 full- and failing-mouth ewes, in lamb, at 5s 4d. FROZEN MEAT MARKET. Messrs Gilbert Anderson and Co. report from London on July 29 as follows:—There has been fair trade with firmer prices and a healthier tone all round. Best grades of Home meat have been scarce with firmer prices. ContiRental meat has been available only in jßmited- quantities. Chilled beef has Viet a better market and prices have . further advanced to forequarters 3jd and hindquarters sd.
