MATAURA PRESBYTERY.
YESTERDAY'S BUSINESS. After going to press yesterday the following business was transacted by the Mataura Presbytery:— The remit from Assembly regarding ministerial tenure was briefly considered. The Rev. W. F. Evans said there were three conclusions arrived at in the remit: Reduction to a minimum of the objectionable features of candidating; (2) restraint of frequent changes in the pastorate; and (3) check of undue delay of charges in filling up vacancies. Several members expressed their disapproval of the way many of the remits were sent down to presbyteries for consideration. They were couched in ambiguous and very often ungrammatical language. They expected something better from their leading men. The way sentences were "strung together," said one speaker, was anything but creditable, and they were very often meaningless. It was decided that the Presbytery, having considered the remit on ministerial tenure, resolves that until some better scheme in a clearer and more concise manner is submitted to ' the Church, it will adhere to the present regulations. BOOK OF FORM. The Assembly's remit on the Book of Form was passed over, several members expressing the hope that in any new Book of Form that may bo issued care be taken to see that there is nothing approaching a liturgy in it.
