PAYMENT FOR HOLIDAYS.
* TROUBLE IN CHRISTCHURCH. FEB UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, May 21. Trouble is said to be threatened in the boot trade owing to the local manufacturers having dismissed their girl employees last Thursday evening, though intimating that they would be re-engaged on Monday morning. The employers contend that the agreement ' is only to pay indentured girls, apprentices and those engaged for five years ' for holidays, whilst the union argues that all girls are apprentices and entitled to be paid for holidays.
