LONDON, May 20, Wheat.—Markets are very flat, largely owing to-the pressure to sell Russian, also the considerable weakness in the "American and Continental markets and liberal offers of Indian wheat. Euro-l crop prospects are Tairly favorable. There is no prospect of the markets improving unless serious damage to the cr ps ensues. There is little inquiries f- • cargoes; some sold from 340 3d to 35e. while 35s 3d is asked for Adelaide air ! Victorian sailers, Januarv shipment. There is a small retail demand for \ustralian spot at about 395. s{ew Zea md quality is disappointing, selling at ,bout 35s to 36s 6d. Flour.—The market is dull.. Australian paten is: London 28s, Glasgow 295. May-June shipment is offering at 275, . landed in Glasgow. Barley.—The market is inactive. Australasian is practically unsaleable at 21s to 225. Oats.—Quiet. Gartons, 20s to 20s } 6d, Sparrowbills 17s 9d, La Plata MayJune 13s 3d. Butter.—Very quiet, and all prices are practically unchanged. The larger part of colonial arrivals is being stored. Cheese.—New Zealand, 565. WRIGHT, STEPHENSON AND CO. DUNEDIN, May 19. The annual meeting of the shareholders in Wright, Stephenson and Co., was held to-day. The balance, includ'ng ■amount carried forward from last year, •was £32,315 ISs lid, and the dividend to be paid on ordinary shares is 6 per, cent., while £5900 is placed to the re -' serve fund and £9167 14s lid is car- '--■. ried forward. " CLEARING SALE AT GREENVALE The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report having held a clearing sale at Mrs M. G. Forde's farm, Greenvale, on the 18th inst. The day was fine, and there was a large gathering of farmers from around the district. The sale was a very successful one, everything being disposed of at full market values. The horses, in keeping with the present / market, were if anything < slightly easier, he following are some of the prices obtained:—S.m. lambs, fat and ■■■* forward, 13s; 2. 4 and 6-tooth ewes, 13s lOd; f .m. ewes, 7s lid; s.m. ewes, 12s 7d; cows, £3 to £5 os; heifers, £3; and steers, £3 18s. Implements and sundries also sold well and realised full values. An excellent luncheon was provided by Mrs Forde, and to her the auctineers desire to express their thanks for the hospitality offered to all throughout the day. THE WOOL MARKET. Zealand Loan and Agencv Company, Limited, conducted the clear-' ing sale of Mr Rolert Matthews' stock and implements ?.t Charlton en Thursday, Mr "Matthews having disposed of his farm to Mr George Whittingham. There was a very Inrge attendance and the sale was a capital •one from start , to finish, bidding being most spirited throughout. The dairy herd was offered tirst, and the cows sold at from»£s 5s to £8 12s Gd, the following being of the nuvin prices: £B, £8 ss, , £8 ss, £3 12s GJ. £7 15s, £7 7s 6d, £7, £6 17s 6d, -£'j 17s 6:1. All the sundries, were solcf under keen' competition and brought full prices throughout. A fair share of the success is due to Mrs Matthews, who provided an excellent luncheon, and she and her ladyi assistants were most attentive to the large gathering present throughout the ' - day.
