SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.

* DISTRICT MATTERS. At the meeting of the Otago School Commissioners this week the following business of district interest was transacted:—Mr Hanan and the ranger reported on the proposed purchase of section 12, block XV., town of Gore. The report was adopted and consideration deferred. Duncan Mathieson, Waikaia, wrote explaining the position of John McGregor in regard to section 9, block IV., Wendonside, and asking the commissioners to allow McGregor a rebate of one year's rent. Consideration was held over. Alexander McAllan, lessee of sections 13 and 15, block V., Wendonside, wrote asking the commissioners to allow' him the same relief as his neighbors. The letter was received John Taylos, lessee of section 20, block IV., Wendonside, applied for remission of a year's rent, as granted to nis neighbors. The letter was received. Kee, lessee of section 17, block VIII., Wcndon, applied for authority to erect a dwelling-house, stable, and fencing at a cost of £250, and o remove the present buildings to a more convenient site. The action was approved. Mrs M. McMath, lessee of sections 2 and 4, block 1., Lumsden, asked permission to transfer to George Marshall. This was agreed to. Inder and Cochrane applied for consent to transfer lease part section 7, block 111., Wendonside, from Messrs T. and J. Hood to Francis Marshall. This was agreed to. The ranger reported on the application of Mrs J. McKenzie, lessee of section 77, block 1., Wendon, for permission to grant an easement to the Muddy Terrace Sluicing Company. This was agreed to. William Stevenson, lessee c sections 5 and 6, block HI., and 16, nd 19, block IV., Wendonside, wrote 'ng the commissioners for rebate 'ear's rent on sections 16, 17 anj -sking for a year's rebate on •md 6.
