GORE BRASS BAND.

ANNUAL MEETING. Tho annual meeting of the Gore Brass Band was held in Paterson's rooms last evening, when there was a large attendance of playing and honorary members. Mr R. L. Christie (president) occupied the chair. Sergt. Hancock presented the'annual report which stated that the past year had been commenced with a credit balance of £55 16s 2d, and after paying outstanding accounts to the amount of £SO 4s, the credit now stood at lis 7d. There were liabilities amounting to £9 17s 6d outstanding. Reference was made to the appointment of Bandmaster Staines, and to the loss tho band had sustained through the departure from the district of Mr 11. I'oubister, tho iionorary secretary. There were now twenty-two playing members on the roll as against twentynine at the beginning of tho year, and it was advisable that beginners should bo encouraged and assisted by /the holding of classes. During the year 156 musters had been called, Mr E McDowell heading the list of attendances with 146. Tho net receipts from the carolling on Christmas Eve were £l2 5s or Is Gd better than the previous year. The balance-sheet showed that including the balance at the' beginning of the year of £SO 16s 2d, the total receipts had been £123 12s Bd, the contest social accounting for £25 10s, and members' subscriptions £lO 10s' Ihe expenditure , vas £l23s Is Id, of which tho expenses to the Invercargill contest amounted to £25 lis. The Band accepted the conditions of tho agreement submitted by tho Borough Council as trustees for the Band. , After the business of the meeting had been concluded members partook of refreshments provided by Mr Paterson.
