MAXAWATU TOURNAMENT. PPR lIVITKD J'KESS ASKOCIAI l"V. PALMEIISTON N., March IG. The Manawatu tennis tournament commenced to-day, there being a largo attendance. Messrs Fisher, Prouse and Stow are the three most prominent players engaged. In the semi-final for the men's championship singles Prouse beat Fisher, 9'—4, the result being a surprise. Fisher is still in the men's handicap singles. In the men's champion doubles, first round, Fisher and Prouse heat Johnston and Phazazyu, 9—o; Stow and Collins beat Wither and Waldegravo, 9—2.
POLO. THE SAVILE CUP. VEU UNITED TRESS ASSOCIATION. CHIIISTCHURCH, March IG. The final match for the Savile Cup resulted in Hawke's Bay winning by lour goals to the Christchurch team's one goal.
