PALMERSTOX NORTH CASES. PALMERSTON N., Oct. 18. At the Police Court, Pahnerstoi. North, to-day, before Mr A. D. Thomson, S.M., Claude Relfer and Charle: Cannon, alias Cripps, alias AVatson, were charged with being idle and dis orderly persons. Retter swore that Ik oivned a trotting horse and had £4O ii. the Post Office Savings Bank. Tin case was therefore adjourned for a short tinta to allow inquiries to be made, when it was found that the statement was false and Retter was sentenced to three months' imprisonment. An in formation was then laid against him foi perjury, he being remanded till Monda\ next. Cannon was also convicted and sen teiiced to three months' imprisonment. A charge of theft preferred against bin; j for stealing clothing and food valued at j £7 from the residence of George Rans ford, of Palmerston, was also adjourned till Monday. ICttie White, a woman who has been living with Retter and Cannon and who was also charged with vagrancv, was remanded to the same date.
