It ploughed lover the plaUorui and crashed into the ladies' waiting-room, bringing down a granite pillar supporting the superstructure. Damage to the extent oi IuO.OUO dollars was done. Five persons were killed and twenty injured, all of whom were waiting on the station. The passengers were unhurt. Tho accident was due to the boiler plug of tho engine being blown out. The driver and fireman were thrown off tho engine, and there .was no one aboard to stop the train.
