GORE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The fortnightly meeting o£ the Gore Borough Council was held last evening. Cr. Green, in the absence of the Mayor (Mr Foppelwell), occupied the •..•hair, and there were also present: l-'is. Burrows, Faitt, Hartley, S.pedL'.i. M'Farlane, and J. Mac Gibbon. Correspondence.

Hie Inspector of Stock wrote drawing the council's attention to noxious weeds growing on its reserves, and asked that immediate steps be taken for their removal.—On the motion of Crs. Burrows and M'Farlane, it was resolved that the Stock Department be asked to put on men od the Croydon Domain to keep down the weeds.

Dr Ogstoii wrote expressing the opinion that there was nothing to present outhouses being connected with the main sewer. So long as the Mataura river was a sludge channel, he did not think, speaking unofficially, that the council need scruple to run age into it, as the dirty water of Ihe river would render such sewage innocuous.—Held over until next meeting. The sanitation contractor wrote asking l'or assistance towards the erec--1 ion. of a shed for the night carts.— Refei red to the Sanitation Committee. with power to act. Yin- Church of Christ, Gore, wrote aj'plying for a crossing in Jfedway .street, opposite the chapel.—Granted on she usual conditions. ■iobji Ballintine wrote asking for some improvement to the footpaths in M iry street.—Referred to the insped or to do what is necessary.
