ved on many .c.-rusions is well "known by the extremely small attendance at meetings. .Last evening, however, they put up an unenviable record. It had been decided to hold an evening meeting in order to. ascertain if a la£ gcr attendance-could be secured, and a* a special inducement, to the 'members to attend, Mr I), Gilchrist, of Waikaka \ alley, had been asketl to lecture upon veterinary .subjects. Mr Gilchrist brought in a number of his valuable instruments to illustrate his lecture, m the preparation of which he lad spent a considerable amount of ime. When the hour of commencement arrived only one member was present, but he was joined bv two others. Although these enthusiasts (the chairman, secretary, and treasurer of the branch) waited patiently till eight o clock, ,no others put in an appearance, except two reporters. The want of consideration for and appreciation of the lecturer thus shown by tile members of the. Gore branch is worthy of the severest censure. Mr Gilchrist rode in some eight. miles (o impart information which' would be of 'he greatest value, and members of the branch should certainly, out " of ordinary courtesy, have attended to hear him. Before leaving, however, Mr Gilchrist described to those present the uses of the various instruments he had brought, ami fhe chairman (Mr l.'annerman) thanked him for his interesting remarks. Mr Bannerman anil the two other members having spoken their minds with considerable warmth in regard to the upathv of the branch, the proceedings closed.
