SUJIMEIt SHOW. The Gore &.. and 1\ Associalion's summer show opens on 'ihursday next and continues over Friday. . The entries this year are satisfactory. There is a slight falling off in cattle, horses, and dairy produce, but sheep show a substantial increase. Owing to the operations of the implement manufacturers combine, the entries of farm machinery are not yet available, although, of course, the numbers will be considerably Jess than in former years. Still, several South- * land firms intend exhibiting as largely as possible, so that this department will by no means be dull and unprofitable from a spectator's point of view. As entries for the various . competitions are received on the ground, the number of those already received js not published owing to its being incomplete, but the total under that head is expected to reach to fully 70, so that the grand total will be proportionately increased. The ground is in splendid order, ami among other improvements effected' is the erection of a range of loose boxes for the accommodation of entire horses, which "Will be muflh appreciated by exhibitors and the public alike. The special train arrangements arc most complete, permitting residents in all parts of the district to visit the show and return home in the evening. A meeting of- the A. and P. committee, held on. Saturday, was attended by Messrs Dickie (Chairman), It. Dickie, H. Smith, S. White, P. Aitken, J. Butler, v T. Logan, .R.jFortunc, J. Clouaton, W. J. .JohAfton, W. Scoullar, T. ureen, W. Macara, J. Waddell, C. Cooper," It. Hcrron, J. Turnbull, B. Glover, H. Mclntyrc, G. P. Johnston. The Lake County A. and P. Association wrote for information, which the secretary had supplied. Hogg and Co. (Koniahapa) wrote offering a bale of twine as a sp?j:ul prize, and their donation was received with thanks. Mess 'Todd Bros, asked whether a prizetakcr in class 161 could compete in class 163, and it was resolved to reply referring the writers to rule 16. The N.Z. Trotting Association intimated that the A. and P. Assoeiattiom's amplication to hold a pony trot for boys at-.the show had been" approved. ■ The Chairman- retried that the contractor for the stallions' loose boxes at the ground had completed his work, the total cost being £10.) 10s. It was resolved to hold a weightguessing competition, the prizes to be £3, £2, and £l, Mr Macara agreeing to supply three sheep for the purpose.
