TWO NIGHTS AT COKE. 'J he jieriodical visits of Messrs i''itzgeraif. tiros. huge circus organisation to Gorj are always welcomed by die public owing to the certainty of sensational and interesting novelties being provided. This year a specially strong company is being brought, including many performers of worldwide repute from the largest 'Joiitinental centres of amusement. Chief 1 interest, however, will be focussed up; o'i the troupe of six Japanese wrestle! s, describing whose performance the Dunedin 'Star' says :—"There were thre-; bouts, the winner of each contesting in the final. The style of wrestling is completely new, being in 110 way connected with any Known style. Any grip is considered a failone, except catching by the hair, lhe ring is oily 10ft. wide, and any competitor getting outside its narrow circumference is beaten. here is a referee, whose office, like that of me executioner of olden days, is hereditary, descending from father to soil. The exhibition given 'by these six wrestlers was extraordinary, and almost as much acrobatic as athletic. The final bout proved very exciting, the smaller man getting" much the worst of it until, by a supreme effort, he threw his opponent clean over lus head and out of the ring. I'iually an exhibition of the quickness with which a man can recover his feet after a throw was given. The reception decorded the wrestlers on their entry Was very cordial." ■ln addition to th 6 Japs, there are acrobats of all kinds, trapeze performers, horsemen, high-wire walkers, contortionists: a" accomplished lady juggler, clowns, etc., etc. making up a talented company of stars, each artist being the very best available in his or her particular liue of business. The menagerie has- been considerably; augumented since last it was shown in Gore, and in every other respect the circus fully maintains the brilliant reputation of its enterprising proprietors. Two perfcimances are to be given in Gore on Thursday and Friday evenings (show nights) next.
