The Under-secretary Mines Department wrote stating that in future 110 lease for coal-mining over education reservcswould be consented to by the Minister unless the lease was .recommended by tlii\ Inspector of -Mines for the district jn which the urea applied for was situated.—Received, C. 11. A yearly right to occupy sections 7, 8, 16, 13. and 11. block XVII., and sections 10, 11. 13. and 1-1, block XVIII.. Lumsden, was granted to Samuel Stanford, and a yearly right to occupy section 5, block XX., Athol township, was grunted to G. A. Soper. The "Maslei ton and Mystery I'lat Dredging Compunies were granted a right-of-Kvay of one chain for carting coal und mining material along the east side of the Waikaia River during the pleasure of the Commissioners, the companies to erect a gate in the fence neat the ford, and to always close the same after passing through. In connectioi. with the matter a letter was received from Mary Monagthan, lessee of run 2o Iti, who complained that coal carters had broken down her fence, and who asked the Commissioners to insist upon (gates being erected and be ing kept shut. All application by the lessee of run 327b. Waikaia, for permission to erect further acconimodatian for shearers in accordance with the requirements of the inspector, was granted. An application by T. Kennedy to transfer the lease of section 2, block VI IT.. Wendon, to M. Kennedy, was approved on the usual condition*. Accounts amounting to £ll3 4fl 10d were passed for payment alirl the meeting adjourned.
