At the Gore Court this niomiug before Mr G. Cruickshank, S.M., for driving horses with sore shoulders,, W. Gutschlag was fined 20s and costs Us Thomas Dove for permitting a horse to wander was fined Is and costs 7s, and Mrs Preeco for permitting a cowto wander was fined 5s and 7s costs. Judgment was given by default in the cases Henderson and Batger (Mr Inder), v. Thos. flutter for £l3 and £2 Os (id costs, and Robt. Hay (Mr InWer) v. George Deans for £1 5s and [lis costs. Five old age pensions [were renewed for £IS each.

At the Gore Warden's Court to-day the case by the Mataura Borough Council against Messrs Marshall Bros, a claim of £2 damages and for an injunction to restrain 'defendants from disenabling tailings from their dredge into the Wainrumu Creek, whence they were carried into the main tail race, came before Mr Cruickshan'k, Warden. Defendants' contention was that they legally their tailings and debvis iu'to the creek, which was a public sludge channel., and that they were not "concerned where itliey went afterwards. After argument, his Wor ship said he was inclined to grant an injunction as asked for, whereupon Mr Neave asked him to state a special case for the Supreme Court next week, but tihis was opposed by Messrs Bowler and Inder, who contended they were entitled to judgment and an injunction, and that defendants should be left to their remedy by way of appeal. Eventually the hearing was adjourned to the Bth December, a case to be stated for the Supreme Codrt, to be presented without delay, defendants to deposit £lO as security for costs on appeal. Plaintiff's costs in the Warden's Court were assessed alt £7 7s 3d. Mr Bowler appeared for the Mataura Borough Council, Mr Inder for the contributing- dredging companies, and Mr Nenvc for defendants.
