WAIKOIKOI CRICKET CLUB
ANNUAL CONCERT. The entertainment held annually in aid of the funds of this club are invariably of a very high order of merit,ami the function last evening proved no exception to the general rule, being if anything more successful than those of past years. A contingent of capable performers from Mataura and Gore atsistcd materially towards the excellence of the programme, and their efforts were supplemented by the excellent contentions of district amateurs. There was "a crowded attendance, and in the absence of the President (Mr J. R. Mackenzie), Mr John Howat (depiiycaptain) occupied the chair. An overture to each part of the programme was supplied by Misses Coull and N. Mac Gibbon. Songs were given by Misses Cameron (encored) and Coull ; Messrs A. MacGiMbon. Murdoch, and Stcadman ; ducts by Miss Cameron and Mr Steadman, and Messrs MacGibbon and Murdoch. Herr Otto Hubcner played several choice violin solos ; a number of quartettes and other part songs wero given by the Mataura Glee Party, and Mr E. MacKay danced the Highland fling. Mr Reid was recalled for his splendidly given comic songs, humorous recitations by Mctesrs Eadie and Evison being also thoroughly enjoyed. The accompaniments were tastefully ployed by Mrs Godby, Misses MacGibbjn, Coull and Cameron. After refreshments had Ijeen disjicnsed " by tho ladies, an enjoyable dance was held, the music I>eing supplied by Misses Godby (piano) and Mr Cooper (violin). During the j roccedings the Chairman made reference to the enjoyable nature of the entertainment that had been provided, and in thanking the performers for their capable assistance, made special men tion of the Indies ami gentlemen who had come all the way from Matxira and had afforded so much pleasure by their efforts.
